Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed creating gifts to give to friends and loved ones rather than going out and buying a ready-made item. Not only do I find myself indulging in the process of making something completely unique, I also take pride in the fact that the recipient knows that there is a part of me that I also gave away; something personal, something from my heart.
I remember, years before (waaaaaay back when.. gosh, has it really been that long ago???) I used to do a variety of crafts like crocheting purses that I would give out at Christmas, or crocheting backpacks for my high school buddies. I used to also make picture frames and even little scrapbooks for simple occasions. The joy of creating has always been with me and I only hope that these tokens of myself are much appreciated by those who received them.
But lately, it has been cards that I have been making. Maybe it’s because they are the simplest, easiest little things to finish since I have had my hands quite full lately. Recently, I went through my albums of work I did before and I came across these two cards I made back in 2009. It’s been that long! Glad to have recovered them to share with y’all today!
Originally, there were three cards in this series. I made a Friendship, Love and Birthday card, but I sent the birthday card to my friend before I got the chance to take any photos of it. I used the same color scheme and patterned paper for all three cards.
“Friends are Like Flowers” Card
With a 2.5″ puncher, I created “windows” in the front of the card. I also used a cardstock sticker for the title and layered it in coordinating cardstock for dimension.
With brads, I affixed the prima flowers on the pink border strip and then used eyelets to hold that in place. Another sticker from the same friendship sheet I used in front completed the inside sentiment.
“Together” Card
For the title, I used Cricut Cartridge Graphically Speaking and used pop dots (which I am also very fond of using) to give it a raised effect.
Instead of using glue (which will just show through the vellum), I used eyelets to hold the words “Through thick & thin” on layers of squares and strip of pink borders for the vellum background, too.
For the inside, I used vellum from the quote stack I have and the sentiment says “Two people who belong together make a world! ~ Hans Margolius”. Lovely quote and very apt for this card.
Many thanks for reading! Till next post!!
Love,
Krystal
